Biography 



Beth Shapeero (b.1985) is an artist based in Glasgow. Her solo practice is predominantly abstraction, working across different mediums including printmaking, painting, and installation. Her work often involves people and strives to promote connection through art practice. Her recent paintings distil fleeting memories and bodily sensations. Often, these images are inspired by visceral physical feelings: a lump in the throat, anxious knots in the stomach, or moments of anticipation, such as the expectation of touch.

Solo exhibitions include Two-Step: Scribbling/Scrabbling at Platform (Glasgow, 2024), Two-Step: Playing Up at Glasgow Print Studio in 2023, To Stand in the Full Sun, a participatory project with Empower Women for Change at16 Nicholson Street Gallery (Glasgow, 2022), Turned the Wrong Way at Studio Pavilion at House for at Art Lover (Glasgow, 2022). In 2020 she a was awarded the prestigious ARMA commission; The Shape of Things, co-created with learners form Leeds city college took place in The Tetley in 2022 (Leeds). She has also exhibited work at The Royal Scottish Academy (Edinburgh, 2022), Tramway (Glasgow 2017), The Royal Standard (Liverpool 2015) and Two Queens Gallery (Leicester 2014). Her work has been showcased at the 2014, 2016 and 2018 iterations of Glasgow International Festival.
