At Newton Mearns, Lily worked on larger sculptures coating forms made from cardboard and modroc with a mix of ground biochar and pva glue resulting in a rigid aesthetic, but fragile materiality.‘On the Sick Road’ was exhibitioned at Embassy Gallery.
About the ArtistLily Lavorato (b. 1995, London Uk.) is a sculptor currently living and working in Glasgow. their recent exhibitions include: ‘NECROLOGY’, Group show at Haarlem Art Space, Wirksworth (2025); and ‘The Field is Forever’, Group show at Two Queens Studio, Leicester (2024).
Lily’s sculptural works point to a rupture in bodies and landscapes to explore sick journeys, vulnerability and gestures of care. They are using the residency to develop new work – drawing on their paternal roots in southern Italy, for an upcoming solo show at Embassy Gallery, Edinburgh (3-26 October.)
Lily was a recipient this year of the inaugural Patricia Sutcliffe Award, including a residency at The Art House in Wakefield, as well as VACMA, A-N and Hope Scott Trust grants.
