Marguerite Carnec (b.1994) is a French artist based in Glasgow whose practice spans drawing, painting and printmaking. She studied illustration at Camberwell College of Arts, London (2016) and primarily uses monoprinting techniques.

Her poetic and colourful compositions depict self-referential narratives that explore the pain and joy of living, where characters reveal themselves as she paints.

Marguerite has exhibited in shows across the U.K., most recently at the New Glasgow Society (Glasgow, 2024) and the Mall Galleries (London, 2024). She has also exhibited at the Woolwich print fair (London, 2018), Camberwell Space (London, 2018), Somerset House (London, 2017), the Topolski Studio (London, 2017), and Copeland Gallery (London, 2016).

Her work was featured in ‘Illustration Research Methods’ published by Bloomsbury (2021) and alongside her writing in Varoom Magazine (2017) and the Jackdaw magazine (2017). She was commissioned a series of 15 drawings to illustrate the greek classic ‘Metamorphosis, by Ovid’ for Les Belles Lettres publishing house (Paris, 2019).

Marguerite won the Dekkle printmaking prize (London, 2018) and she was the Editorial New Talent winner at the World Illustration Awards (London, 2016). She was also nominated for the Clyde and Co. Art award (2016) and her work was exhibited at their London offices in 2016.

She is a member of the Glasgow Print Studio, and an ex member of the Graphic Studio Dublin (2019). She was artist in residence at the Topolski Studio residency in London, 2016.
